The 1st Marlowes Music Festival took place 15/16 September on the town centre bringing live music to the streets of Hemel Hempstead. Hosted by Hemel Hempstead BID, 18 acts too to the stage with music ranging from rap to jazz, ska to soulful acoustic. Additionally, a children’s funfair and face painters kept the little ones happy, whilst mum and dad were able to sample the offerings in the cocktail bar area.An outdoor street food area featured cuisine from around the world and was hosted by Saunders Markets.
Richard Buxton, Hemel Hempstead BID Manager said “this will be the first of a range of events that will be organised or supported by Hemel Hempstead BID. It’s up to us to do everything that we can to increase footfall in the BID area in what are increasingly difficult times for the high street shops and businesses. Feedback has been excellent with many commenting on the wonderful atmosphere in the town over the weekend.”
Festival attendee Dave Wallace commented “I’m so happy to see live music in Hemel. Our family had an amazing day”.
